Raiders OC Greg Olson Says Denarius Moore Has ‘Character Issue’

[caption id="attachment_268" align="alignright" width="230"]Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports[/caption] Last season, the Oakland Raiders saw the emergence of wide receivers Denarius Moore and Rod Streater. Both wideouts showed signs of promise with Moore becoming the leader of the receiving corps. With Raiders training camp coming to a close, it appears that Streater has emerged as the team's best option downfield with offensive coordinator Greg Olson saying Moore is a working progress with some character issues via Jerry McDonald of the Contra Costa Times:
"A lot of it is going to be on Denarius. To me, it’s that whole character issue, becoming a self-starter, becoming a self-motivated person, and a lot of it comes with maturity. I think he’d be the first guy to say we’re constantly on top of him . . . we’ll just coach him up, but I think he’s becoming a more mature player and a more mature person. A lot of players will tell you, `Boy, I wish I had been more mature as a younger player.’ And I think that maturity will happen for Denarius."
As Carson Palmer's favorite target in the offense last season, Moore appeared to be player on the rise and yet to reach his true potential. Although Moore may still become the team's best offensive weapon behind running back Darren McFadden, Streater has made an impression on the coaching staff while Moore still needs to prove his worth. The first depth chart released by the team a few weeks ago had Moore as the top wideout. It's looking more and more like Moore may fall behind Streater with the regular season rapidly approaching. Rookie Brice Butler has also turned a lot of heads during training camp and the first two preseason games becoming the third wideout on the depth chart behind Streater and Moore.
